“I think it is premature... Too early to confirm or deny what were the items seized,” said federal commercial crimes director Amar Singh Ishar Singh.
“I think it is not proper for me to say so. The reason being is, we have not tabulated exactly,” he told a media conference this morning.
According to a Sin Chew Daily report, the police had confiscated more than 100kg of gold bars and an excess of RM100 million in cash.
Following the search at the two units linked to the 1MDB probe, Amar had announced an astonishing haul. It took a total of five police trucks to cart the items back to Bukit Aman.
The items included 72 bags of money and jewellery as well as 284 boxes of handbags. The cash was in various currencies.
Police have also searched five other locations including the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya and former premier Najib Abdul Razak's house in Jalan Langgak Duta in Kuala Lumpur.
It was revealed that documents related to 1MDB have also been seized.
At present, the police are still attempting to crack open a safe in Najib's house.
Yesterday, the former premier's lawyer Harpal Singh Grewal claimed the safe had remained locked for the past two decades and the key misplaced.
He also claimed that the continuous drilling since 8.30am had caused Najib's family and staff mental distress and termed it as harassment.
The police operation comes hot on the heels of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad stating that Najib would be charged soon with regard to the 1MDB scandal.
Najib has denied abusing public funds for personal gain.
